Thor de France

THIS WHEELED HORSE IS ENJOYABLE, I LIKE IT

THIS WHEELED HORSE IS ENJOYABLE, I LIKE IT

I would watch this just as readily as the Tour de France. It would be amazing. Loki can take the place of Didi the Devil by the side of the road. Tony Stark would want to join, but, given the UCI’s restrictions on cycling technology, would not deign to ride a mere carbon fiber, engine-less, jet-less, arc-reacterless vehicle and would instead choose to mock Thor mercilessly. Cap would fare better, seeking to take up where Lance Armstrong left off—no EPO necessary. The early sprinter’s stages can be decided by who can outride Thor’s hammer—can Cav do it?!—but the first big throwdown comes on the medium mountain stages when breakaway riding over the mountain leads to a head-to-head battle between Thor and Thor Hushovd.

LtoR, Stage third-placed, Luxembourg’s national road champion Frank Schleck, Spain’s three-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador and Luxembourg’s Andy Schleck climb in the 211 km and twelfth stage of the 2011 Tour de France cycling race run between Cugnaux and the 2.500 metres ski resort of Luz-Ardiden, southwestern France, on July 14 , 2011. What a love about this photo is how Andy’s expression says “Bring it on!” and Contador’s says, “Make it stop!” Meanwhile, Frank is hanging in the back, just about to launch a killer attack. Go Schlecks!

Poor guy :(

What a classy cyclist! This guy is so impressive. I would love to see him in polka dots in Paris.

This man never ceases to amuse me. But I gotta admit he’s got some serious air there!

Whenever I see him - on the TV, in a magazine, whatever - I involuntarily say JENS! out loud. It is a cult. An AWESOME cult.

Again, reblogging so that I can find it later when I have headphones and can listen.

Andy Schleck’s Tour (by djeanaenator)

Niels Christian Jung’s documentary following Andy Schleck (and Leopard Trek) in the run-up to the Tour

A lot of focus on time trial work (wind tunnels, positioning, velodrome), team bus strategy chats, a lot of stretching, cursing downhill finishes. the Schleck fishing lake, the Liege-Bastogne-Liege drama and sadness about Wouter

Not all in English but mostly.  Also, I don’t think you have to specifically be an Andy fan to find some of the stuff in this video interesting.

Reblogging mostly so I can find it later when I actually have headphones and can listen.

The 2011 Tour de France stages in 3D computerized glory. Am I dying for this to start? Yes. Am I sad I don’t get to watch until July 5th? Oh yes.

From The Big Picture: “The pack rides past the Magda tribe, dressed up as Prehistoric people, at the entrance of the Mas d’Azil cave during the 15th stage of the 2010 Tour de France run between Pamiers and Bagneres-de-Luchon on July 19, 2010. (LIONEL BONAVENTURE/AFP/Getty Images)” #
It’s difficult to say what makes Tour de France fans so unique. Oh wait, nevermind.
