So yeah. This happened. :)

A lot of hard work went into this. Been a lot time coming. Glad it finally went public. OPQS, Saxo and Evie and Taylor from SLULU are over there now getting a tour after todays TT. ANd on that note, was weird seeing the footage of them riding roads we ride for our lunch ride! There go all our QOMs/KOMs. pft.

It’s hard to express just how excited I am about this development or how much I want to be a part of it. Aerodynamics and wind tunnel testing are what I do as a PhD candidate and applying that to bikes gets me terribly excited. How stalkerish would it be to email these guys, I wonder?

Just when you think Commander Chris Hadfield can’t get any cooler, he proves that nothing is impossible for astronauts. That is the entire point of astronauts.

The world was expecting a fun farewell from the station commander, because we live in a world where a man in space communicating with millions of people on Earth for fun is something we take for granted, but this is beyond anything we could have hoped for. And utterly perfect.

So I’m assuming that Americans are generally the ones annoying you with this faux pas. In their defense, most American accents don’t distinguish strongly between “dd” and “tt” sounds. In fact, there is probably no discernible difference in conversation when I say, “I’d like a hamburger patty” and “I’d like a hamburger, Paddy,” and I have what is commonly known as the generic American accent (our version of BBC English - originating from the Midwest). It’s the reason “riding” and “writing” sound virtually identical when I say them in conversation.

That said, I would never write St. Patty’s Day instead of St. Paddy’s Day.

That’s the thing - I’ve seen it written Patty so, so often. It’s mind boggling. Pronunciation is another thing entirely and I’m not going to pass judgement on that.

Okay, I’m with you on the spelling then. Sorry if my original comment bothered you!

Race organiser Michele Acquarone has conceded that it was too much for the riders: “Many of you enjoyed it, but it was too much. We lost the right balance. If you lose half your peloton, you just have to be honest and learn from mistake”.
